The humble fern.

How many hundreds have I walked past without a sideways glance?

My cousin in Auckland told me when he was a child he thought ferns were unique to New Zealand. They are an emblem there, the silver fern flies high in pride of place on the All Blacks flag which from what I could see flies more places than their official one! When he found out unique, that he was wrong, they weren’t any less special in his eyes.

I dedicated an afternoon to photographing the fern’s unique and often overlooked beauty in Ashclyst forest, East Devon.
